Apex Clean Energy is proud to announce six organizations selected through the latest round of the Brouilletts Creek Solar Community Grant Program.
From teacher appreciation efforts and youth softball to public art and free laundry programs, this winter’s grant recipients are bringing meaningful improvements to Vermillion County.
Launched in 2022, the grant program supports local initiatives focused on health and recreation, economic development, environmental sustainability, and education. To date, more than $80,000 has been awarded to organizations making a lasting impact in the community.
The six grantee organizations were selected based on their alignment with the program’s mission and their ability to serve the community in tangible ways.
The South Vermillion Community School Corporation received support to recognize teachers throughout the school year in various ways, including small gifts, appreciation week events, and other morale-boosting efforts. “Our teachers pour so much of their own time and money into their classrooms,” said Assistant Superintendent Micah Williams. “This grant is a meaningful way to say thank you.”
The North Vermillion Mural Project will transform a frequently vandalized CSX train trestle into a vibrant community mural celebrating North Vermillion Schools and the surrounding area. “The Vermillion County Commissioners are thankful for the community grant program administered by Apex Clean Energy,” said RJ Dunavan, Vermillion County commissioner. “Because of this program we were able to apply and plan to fund a new community mural project. It’s projects like these that enhance Vermillion County.”
At Clinton United Methodist Church, a boost in funding will help expand Free Laundry Day, which provides quarters, laundry supplies, and volunteer support to community members in need. “Thank you for awarding Free Laundry Day with this generous grant,” said Angela Cripe, director of the Free Laundry Day program. “It will allow us to provide laundry services for so many Vermillion County residents—families, children, and individuals living with hardships. The impact of this program extends far beyond laundry services. By creating a healthier and renewing environment, it gives encouragement and confidence. It also fosters a sense of dignity and self-worth for individuals within their communities.”
South Vermillion High School will use its grant to create a new outdoor gathering space with picnic tables and solar-powered charging stations between the middle and high school buildings.
The South Vermillion Middle School softball team will receive support to help cover essential expenses such as equipment, insurance, field maintenance, and umpires for the upcoming season. “On behalf of the SVMS softball team, we are incredibly grateful for this generous support,” said Jennifer Stevens. “With your support, we’re able to fund equipment, umpires, and other essential needs that make our season successful. Go Wildcats!”
The Clinton Resource Center (CRC) is proud to have received a grant this cycle, further strengthening its role as a vital resource for the citizens of Clinton, Indiana. "Our mission at the CRC is to provide recreational and educational opportunities for members of the Wabash Valley community, encouraging participation across all age groups while promoting cooperation and community growth. This mission has been sustained through the dedication of countless volunteers who have worked tirelessly to keep the facility open and active—even in the face of challenges like a leaking roof that impacted the gymnasium floor."
Apex Clean Energy hopes to be a strong community partner for years to come, and these grants are just a small part of what the company looks forward to contributing in the future.
Community organizations interested in future funding opportunities are encouraged to learn more and apply at www.brouillettscreeksolar.com/grant. There is currently no deadline for the next round of applications.

About Brouilletts Creek Solar
Brouilletts Creek Solar, a project of Apex Clean Energy, is a proposed utility-scale solar energy facility designed to generate up to 200 MW of homegrown Indiana clean energy—enough to power approximately 39,000 American homes. The project aims to diversify the local economy and support jobs in the community. Located in eastern Vermillion County near existing transmission lines on open private land, the area is ideally suited for solar energy development. If approved, the project would generate tens of millions of dollars in construction spending and millions in new revenue to support Vermillion County priorities.
